Your Privacy

Cardi-O-Pulmonary Diagnostics, llc takes your privacy as a very serious matter.  We comply with all federal, state and local laws regarding your privacy.  So what is HIPPA?  What is the privacy law?  How is my information affected and protected?

“HIPPA” is an acronym for the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996, Public Law 104-191, which amended the Internal Revenue Service Code of 1986.  Specifically, HIPPA called upon the Department of Health and Human Services to publish new laws that will ensure:

  1. Standardization of electronic patient health, administrative and financial data
  2. Unique health identifiers for individuals, employers, health plans and health providers
  3. Security standards protecting the confidentiality and integrity of “individually identifiable health information,” past present or future.

A major goal of the Privacy Rule is to assure that individual’s health information is properly protected while allowing the flow of health information needed to provide and promote high quality health care and to protect the public’s health and well being.  The rule aims to strike a balance that permits important uses of information, while protecting the privacy of people who seek care and healing.

If you have any concerns about your health privacy, please contact our privacy officer at privacy@o2testing.com or by calling our office and requesting to speak with our privacy officer.
